Superficial peel
A superficial peel applies an exfoliating agent to the skin to speed up the renewal of the upper layer of the epidermis. It works on radiance and on the evenness of skin texture.
Who this treatment is for
- An uneven complexion that looks tired or clouded.
- Thick skin texture with visible pores.
- Fine surface lines.
- Marks left by older blemishes.
- Skin you want to prepare before another treatment, as a peel evens out the surface.
How a session unfolds
- Cleansing and disinfection of the skin, to remove impurities and sebum.
- Application of the exfoliating agent, chosen for your skin: glycolic, lactic, mandelic for sensitive skin, or salicylic at low concentration.
- A short, monitored contact time: one to three minutes on sensitive skin, three to five on normal skin, up to eight minutes at most on thicker skin.
- Neutralisation of the product then a thorough rinse, when the agent used requires it.
- A moisturising treatment and sun protection before you leave.
Duration and sensations
The appointment lasts 30 minutes. During contact time you feel tingling or tightness, which builds then eases. The short contact time is deliberate: with a superficial peel, leaving the product on longer does not improve the result. What matters is your skin's tolerance, which we monitor throughout.
How many sessions, and how often
The superficial peel works as a course, as the skin renews itself gradually from one session to the next. For maintenance, one session a month or every two months is enough to keep the benefit.
Indicative protocol : 4 sessions two weeks apart.
Immediately afterwards
- Things unfold in three stages over three to five days: slight swelling, then redness, then peeling.
- Cleanse with mild soap or a soap-free cleanser, and pat dry, never rub.
- Moisturise generously morning and evening until the peeling has finished.
- Never pick or pull at peeling skin: let it come away on its own.
- No sun exposure at all until peeling has finished, then SPF 50 is compulsory. No exfoliants or retinol for a few days.
- Contact us in case of intense pain, discharge, or any sign of infection.
