LED photobiomodulation
LED photobiomodulation is taken alongside another treatment. Red and infrared light, without heat or contact, applied right after the session to soothe the skin and support its repair.
Who this treatment is for
- After microneedling, a peel or radiofrequency, to shorten the redness phase.
- Alongside a Korean ritual, to extend the soothing effect.
- Reactive skin that marks easily after a treatment.
- It is not a standalone treatment: LED is added to a session, it cannot be booked on its own.
How a session unfolds
- The main treatment is carried out as usual, through to the end.
- The LED mask is positioned without touching the skin, and you keep your eyes closed.
- Fifteen to twenty minutes of exposure, during which you have nothing to do.
- Sun protection is applied before you leave, as after any treatment.
Duration and sensations
No pain and no noticeable heat: LED does not work through temperature. The light is bright but your eyes stay closed or protected. Two wavelengths are used, red around 630 to 660 nanometres and near infrared around 830 to 850, chosen for their anti-inflammatory and repairing action.
How many sessions, and how often
LED follows the rhythm of the treatment it is added to: there is no course of LED alone. It is offered at each session of the treatments concerned.
Immediately afterwards
- No aftercare specific to LED: the instructions for the main treatment apply.
- Its point is precisely to reduce the redness and discomfort that follow that treatment.
Contraindications
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Suspicious skin lesion, skin cancer or active skin disease on the area
- Photosensitising medication (some antibiotics, oral retinoids, St John's wort...)
- Eye conditions, glaucoma in particular: ask your ophthalmologist before the session
- Photosensitive epilepsy: medical advice is required
